* The Rubber Triceratops, my trusted writing collaborator since 1995, has traveled the world with me and is as vital to me as my final draft software!
The most common comment I get about script writing is : 'I wanna write a script, but I just don't have the time!'
my response is usually this...
Me : 'Could you write a page a day?'
Them : 'Yeah, of course I could!'
Me : 'So start today and guess what you'll have in in 90 days or so?'
The truth is we all have the time to 'write a script' but the reality is most (including me!) are too lazy and it's hard work, a 'good idea' isn't necessarily a good three act screenplay and there are so many dominoes that have to 'fall in place' for a script to work and one little thing can throw it all off. I've written many scripts (not just the ones listed below) and re-written or done 'passes' on others and I am the very BEST at creating excuses to not finish scripts or ideas I have in progress, sometimes the most dreaded thing in my world is the laptop on my table and the unfinished script within!
Two EXCELLENT books* that I recommend and that have helped me on numerous occasions (and are easy, fun reads compared to some of the 'script coach books out there)
* Many Thanks to the Authors!
